CUPERTINO, California / ConSynSer / – Apple’s MacBook Pro has been redesigned with a PROLED XDR display, the first tandem OLED screen on a Mac laptop. The new models also bring Touch and the Dynamic Island to the Mac for the first time. They are available in 14-inch and 16-inch sizes with M5 Pro or M5 Max chips. Pre-orders opened on October 28, and deliveries begin on November 6.

Apple said the PROLED XDR panel reaches up to 2,000 nits of peak brightness for both HDR and SDR content. Its contrast ratio is 10,000,000:1, and ProMotion adjusts the refresh rate between 10Hz and 120Hz. The display supports the P3 and Adobe RGB colour gamuts within a single default preset. Apple said colour coverage exceeds 80% of the Rec. 2020 standard. An optional nano-texture finish is etched into the cover glass to cut glare.
According to Apple, a display engine controls the colour and brightness of each pixel at sub-millisecond speed. It compensates for content, pixel use, temperature and surroundings at once. New reference modes include DICOM settings for non-diagnostic medical imaging review. The display also supports genlock, which synchronises its refresh rate with a camera for virtual production. Apple described it as the world’s best laptop display. Each panel is calibrated at the factory.
M5 Max runs large AI models on device
The M5 Pro and M5 Max are Apple’s most powerful chips built for a pro laptop. Each GPU core includes a Neural Accelerator to speed up AI tasks such as running a coding agent with a local language model. Apple said M5 Max can run models with hundreds of billions of parameters entirely on the device. The chips also feature a third-generation ray-tracing engine. Dynamic Caching increases GPU utilisation in apps such as Blender and Unreal Engine.
Johny Srouji, Apple’s chief hardware officer, said the new MacBook Pro is the result of deep integration between Apple silicon, hardware and software. He described Touch as a new way for professionals to work with their content. Apple’s Creator Studio apps, including Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro and Pixelmator Pro, have been optimised for Touch. Logic Pro offers an onscreen multi-touch keyboard. Final Cut Pro lets editors pinch to zoom on a cut and drop clips into place.
Prices start at $2,899
The 14-inch MacBook Pro now weighs 3 pounds and the 16-inch model 4 pounds. Battery life reaches up to 24 hours, and fast charging restores 50% in 30 minutes. Connectivity includes three Thunderbolt 5 ports, HDMI, an SDXC card slot, MagSafe and a headphone jack. M5 Pro models support up to three external displays, while M5 Max supports four. Storage can be configured up to 16TB.
Prices in the United States start at $2,899 for the 14-inch M5 Pro model and $3,399 for the 16-inch version. M5 Max configurations start at $4,499 and $4,799. The machines ship with macOS 27, including Siri AI, which Apple also brought to its iPhone 18 Pro this year. Pre-orders are open in 30 countries and regions. The launch follows Apple’s foldable iPhone Duo. The enclosure uses 100% recycled aluminium.
